CLAPA Adult Engagement Roadshow: July/August 2018
The CLAPA Adult Engagement Roadshow is now completed. Thank you to all those who attended.
What is the roadshow?
The CLAPA Adult Engagement Roadshow is an opportunity for adults living in the UK who were born with a cleft to come together, share their stories and have their say on the adult-tailored services that CLAPA (and others working with cleft) should be offering.
The roadshow also supports the UK-wide Adults Survey which is also underway this summer.
Why should I come to the roadshow?
It is an opportunity for you to add your voice to the future of services for adults who were born with a cleft. This level of consultation is the first of its type for adults with cleft in the world, so it’s your chance to be part of what we hope will be a turning point.
You will also get to meet and chat with other adults who were born with a cleft, hear and share stories, and be in a room of like-minded people who “get it”.
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough – we’ll provide food too!
What will the roadshow look like?
The format of the event will be as follows:
First Hour: Introduction to the Adult Services Project, background about the survey – meet the CLAPA team, and hear a guest speaker from your local Cleft Team talk about NHS services available to adults in the region.
Second Hour: Focus group and discussion around your experiences growing up with a cleft – what are the key issues people who were born with a cleft face in adulthood? We’ll use some of the questions from the upcoming Adults Survey as starting points for the discussion.
Third Hour: What can CLAPA do for adults going forward in your area and at a UK-wide level? What would be useful? What are the gaps in the existing service? What can cleft teams do to support adults? What can policy makers/government do to support adults born with a cleft?

How do I register?
Keep an eye on this page! As soon as a venue and time are confirmed for your location, you’ll see a link here to book your place. Registration is free, but it will be really important that you do register as places are limited, and events will only go ahead if minimum numbers are reached.
We’ll also be e-mailing adults in our community to make sure they know about these opportunities as soon as they’re announced. Join our community (it’s quick and free!) to keep informed.
Any questions?
If you have any questions about the roadshow, or can offer some help (e.g. with venue hire, catering or media coverage) please contact the Adult Services Coordinator.
