London School Supports CLAPA with Summer of Events
Wanstead High School in North East London have had a busy year raising almost £3,000 for three different charities nominated by their pupils. Christopher Huggins was born with a cleft lip and palate, and though he has now left the school, his fellow pupils were keen to support him last year when he nominated CLAPA as one of the school’s charities.
The school put on a sponsored danceathon, non-uniform day, sports competition, Macarena and a silly hat and hair day! A third of the money raised was donated to CLAPA, and last week our Community Fundraising Manager Louise Wheeler was delighted to be presented with a cheque for £976!
Louise said: “It’s especially wonderful that the pupils get to choose a charity that is close to their hearts, and hopefully they will continue through life with this same generous spirit that has encouraged them to support their fellow students.”
