New Research Opportunity: ‘Understanding Language Outcomes in Cleft’.
Researchers at the University of Newcastle are seeking 10 young adults (18 to 30) born with cleft lip and palate, or cleft palate only, to take part in a new research project entitled ‘Understanding Language Outcomes in Cleft’.
There has been a lot of research into speech and language development in children born with a cleft lip and palate. This project looks to better understand how these difficulties might continue when transitioning to adulthood and will consider how these issues might affect their lives, in terms of jobs that they choose, confidence and their relationships.
The outcome of this research will help to plan for a future project looking at language skills in young adults with cleft.
