Research Opportunity: Parents’ & carers’ experiences of children with appearance-affecting conditions
Maia Thornton is a PhD student at the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) at UWE, Bristol. She is conducting research to investigate ways to support parents and carers of children and young people affected by appearance affecting conditions/injuries, such cleft lip.
What does the research involve?
Maia is looking for parents and carers of children and young people with any appearance affecting condition/injury to take part in an online survey.
The survey will explore parents’ experiences of having a child with an appearance affecting condition, challenges they may have faced as a family, any coping strategies that they have found helpful.
The findings from this study will help us to better understand the support needs of families affected by appearance-affecting conditions and help us to develop future support.
How can I take part?
You can take part by completing this online survey.
At the start of the survey there is an information page with more detail on the study and what the survey will involve.
