World Smile Day – Matilda’s Make-up Masterclass
Yesterday we headed down to Urban Decay Carnaby for a fantastic make-up masterclass, run by the indomitable Matilda Lansdown! We had an amazing time and we hope the many people who came down had a equally fantastic time!
Matilda was born with a cleft and has had roughly 13 – 15 surgeries over the past 26 years. ‘I think the scariest thing when you’re younger is when people ask you questions about it and and you don’t know what to say. So I think, for me, I come from a big family, so we always talked about it, […] my mum’s a nurse and my granddad is a doctor, so that also helped, knowing how to answer it.’
‘I don’t know, I’ve always been quite vocal, but…that’s still scary because you can get some nasty people who have nasty comments to make and even now still, on Instagram, I’ll have nasty people, but I just delete them and block them. I don’t even respond. I feel if you respond to negativity you’re just going to get negativity back, you just block it, that’s what I do. Unfortunately, it’ll be there whatever you do…’
Back in 2013, when she was 18, Matilda took part in the Channel 4 show Embarrassing bodies, looking at her jaw surgery, when her top jaw was moved forward 13mm, you can find a link to the piece here, but please note before watching it, it does contain extremely graphic images of surgery that some may find disturbing.
