Sarah’s Story
During those formative years, I was in and out of GOSH for surgical procedures, either on my bladder or to correct my facial differences. In 1982 I had some of some bone marrow taken from my hip and grafted into the gap left by the cleft.

Denise’s Story
All the treatment was being geared up towards the operation to close Kenny’s cleft lip at 3 months of age. Initially, that operation couldn’t come quick enough, but by the time he was 3 months old, I’d grown accustomed to how he looked and was a bit fearful of the change. Our son was a smiley, happy, very content baby. It seemed wrong that he had to go through this.

Heather Saunders, FHEA, is looking to speak to people born with a cleft about your experiences (possitive or negative) in the workplace. You don’t need to know anything about the law to take part, though taking part can help investigate whether the current law goes far enough to promote equality for people with a visible difference.
