The Local CLAPA Community
To us, volunteering isn’t just about what people can do to help CLAPA and their local cleft community, it’s about making sure that you get just as much out of it as you put in. We want our volunteers to learn new skills, grow their confidence, and make friends and connections with people all across the country. This is what Sian from Caerphilly did when she joined the South Wales Branch.

South Wales Branch Present to Dentistry Students
Back in November 2013, dentistry student (and soon to be CLAPA volunteer) Steph Kirby, contacted CLAPA to say she was organising an evening at Cardiff University on Cleft Lip and/or Palate. She had already arranged for a couple of healthcare professionals to talk, however also wanted to get individuals affected by cleft to share their experiences.

Spotlight On: South Wales Branch
Each of us had a passion to become more involved in CLAPA and give something back to the charity that had helped us and our children so much. We were all members of the Facebook page and had become friends at that point. Thanks to Claire Cunniffe we attended a volunteer induction day in October 2012.
