James Kiff, a Speciailst Clinical Psychologist from the East of England Cleft Service, has planned an ambitious cycle ride from Paris to Nice in France to raise money for CLAPA.

Straumann Go The Extra Mile For CLAPA!
Straumann UK like a challenge, so to prove it they have committed themselves to raising a significant amount of money for charity by organising a bike ride from their headquarters in Basel, Switzerland to their UK offices in Crawley, West Sussex - a mere 600 miles in six days!

The Hancock’s story
"The operator told us that our baby had a cleft lip and that this maybe associated with some syndromes that may mean that the baby may not survive. The whole thing was handled rather badly. We left the hospital in a state of shock and little information."

Emily’s Story
"We were delighted to discover we were expecting our second child in the summer of 2011. I had a fairly straightforward pregnancy and normal scans throughout. Our daughter Isabelle was born on 21st April 2012 at 00.52AM, coming quite unexpectedly on her due date. Her birth was very fast and when they handed her to me I couldn't believe how tiny she was at 5lb 9oz.

Trekkers Conquer Annapurna Circuit
Jay and Lisa-Marie Bush took up the challenge of an unguided trek of the Nepalese Annapurna Circuit during October-November 2012 after Lisa-Marie's cousin Lesley had a child with a cleft.

‘Tough Guy’ Tony Wins Medal for Son Ashton
"Ashton and all the other cleft children out there are the real tough guys. I just wanted to get Ashton a medal to prove it and I was mentally prepared to do what ever it took to cross that finish line and get it for him."

STUDY: Dental Caries, Oral hygiene and oral clearance in children with craniofacial disorders
This study suggests that children born with CL/P are more likely to get dental decay. The reasons behind this are many and varied but includes the fact that these children seem to find tooth brushing harder and retain foods/sugars longer in their mouths than their unaffected friends.
