Fundraising at nursery, school, or in the community

Raising funds at your nursery, school, or in the community is a fantastic way to support CLAPA and help families affected by cleft lip and palate across the UK. CLAPA receives no government or NHS funding, so every donation you raise helps keep vital services running.

Whether you’re organising a non‑uniform day, a sponsored event, a bake sale, or a creative activity, we’re here to help you every step of the way.

Why Fundraise with CLAPA?

By fundraising at your setting:

  • You help CLAPA provide support, information, and community connections.
  • Children and young people learn about kindness, community, and giving back.
  • You can build fun activities that bring everyone together.

Fundraising also raises awareness of cleft conditions in your community, helping more people understand what CLAPA does and why it matters.

Get Started in 3 Simple Steps

There are lots of ways your nursery, school, or college can take part:

  • Dress‑down, colour, or themed days (e.g., Wear It Blue)
  • Bake sales, cake stalls, and refreshment stands
  • Sponsored activities (walks, runs, skip challenges, read‑a‑thons)
  • Competitions and quiz nights

Raising Awareness at your Setting

Fundraising is also a great way to raise awareness about cleft lip and palate among your students, staff, and local community. By learning about cleft conditions, children and young people can develop empathy and understanding for others, and it gives your setting a chance to show support for those affected.

Some ways to raise awareness alongside your fundraising:

  • Display posters and leaflets around your setting.
  • Include information in newsletters, assemblies or classes.
  • Encourage discussions and activities that help students understand cleft conditions.
  • Share your event and learning with parents and your wider community.

Awareness-Raising Lessons in the Classroom

If your school runs an anti-bullying week or a similar initiative, it can be a great opportunity to include lessons on accepting and celebrating differences. These lessons don’t have to focus solely on cleft conditions, but cleft can be used as a real-life example to help bring the topic to life.
