The Lived Experience of Autistic Adults with Cleft Lip and Palate

Are you an autistic adult who was born with a cleft lip and/or palate?

Researchers at the University of Lancashire are looking for participants to take part in a research project looking at the experiences of autistic adults born with a cleft.

Participants will take part in a 30-60 minute interview (online via Teams) and will be asked about their life experiences as an autistic person with a cleft lip and/or palate. This may include medical experiences, social communication, friendships, work and self-esteem.

The aim is to generate a deeper understanding to inform more integrated, neuro-affirming clinical practice and to ensure autistic voices are central in shaping future research and multidisciplinary service development.

Criteria for participation:

  • Live in the UK
  • Aged 18+
  • Born with a cleft lip and/or palate
  • Diagnosed or self-identitied as autistic
