VERY IMPORTANT: we can only take responsibility for medicines if they follow this guidance:
- ALL Medicines MUST be in the original packaging e.g. the box/bottle that has the printed details of what the medication is/dosage etc. Do not pop tablets out of the packs into another container.
- All prescribed medications (given by a medical professional, GP, hospital, dentist, psychiatrists) must be clearly labelled with the young person’s first and last name and instructions for usage. This will be on the printed label put on by the pharmacy, usually on the box. This includes inhalers, antibiotics, prescribed pain killers, contraceptives, etc. Without this label we cannot give the medication.
- Please note, we can only legally administer medicines according to the label/written instructions. If you administer the medication differently to what is written on the instructions then you must get your GP/consultant to confirm this is okay in writing.
- ALL medications / supplements / herbal remedies, etc., bought over the counter must be handed in at registration and still be in the original packaging with printed details of what the contents are and dosage. This includes pain killers, allergy relief, eye drops, vitamins, etc.
- ALL medications must have the original information leaflet enclosed (explaining how to take, possible side effects, etc.)
- Please ensure that medication has not expired and that we have enough for the duration of the event or should an emergency occur. Please do not bring large amounts of spare medication.
- If any tablets need to be crushed, please ensure you provide a tablet crusher.
- Please send us any additional information e.g. daily schedule of food and insulin for diabetics.
- You may need to arrange a repeat prescription from the doctors or to speak to your local pharmacy – please ensure you allow enough time to get any new/replacement medication before the event.
Asthma
- The inhaler currently being used needs to be new so that we can ensure it will last throughout the event.
- At least one spare and unused inhaler must be sent in case of loss or damage
- The pharmacy label must be on the canister, if it is on the box, please carefully peel off and stick to the inhaler
- Please include information on the below form about how often attacks happen, triggers, usual pattern of use of inhaler
Epilepsy
- Please provide information on the form below about how long seizures last, what to expect before/during/after, when to call an ambulance, etc.
Allergies
- If an EpiPen is necessary, please provide full details about this on the Medical Details Form below.
