This site is built using HTML and cascading style sheets. This creates a fast loading website that is accessible to screen readers and is usable in most browsers, including older browsers and browsers available on non-Windows systems.
Images and design
Where available, ALT tags provide screen reader users and those with images turned off with a description of the content of the picture.
Translation
Our website has a built-in translation function powered by Google. Users can change which language the website appears in using the drop-down menu in the top right (on desktop and laptop computers), or at the bottom of the main menu on mobile.
This service uses machine translation, and as such there may be errors or inconsistencies. Users using other languages should be aware of this and verify any medical information using a source which was originally written in (or professionally translated into) the language they wish to use.
Note that because this website has been designed and optimised for use in UK English, there may be small errors in how the site is displayed when viewed in other languages, especially ‘right-to-left’ languages such as Arabic.
