Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your donation. If you’re a UK taxpayer, CLAPA can claim an extra 25p from HMRC for every £1 you donate – helping us provide even more life–changing support to the cleft community.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities like CLAPA to reclaim tax on your donations. That means:
A £10 donation becomes £12.50 - without costing you a penny more.
It applies to donations made in the past four years, today, and into the future.

Who Can Use Gift Aid?
You can sign up if you:
- Pay UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax (this includes tax on pensions, savings interest, property sales, or rental income).
- Pay enough tax to cover the amount CLAPA will reclaim on your donations.
Note: Council Tax and VAT do not count toward Gift Aid eligibility.
If you’re a higher-rate taxpayer, you can also claim additional tax relief on your donations through your Self Assessment tax return or by contacting HMRC.
